Gallery Hours:

Lacoste Gallery, a leader in the field of contemporary ceramics, shows a range of work, including abstract sculpture, vessel as art form, and interdisciplinary installation. We represent post WWII artists of iconic stature, mid-career artists recognized for their individuality, and young artists combining clay with video and plastic. Solo, two-person, and themed exhibitions are presented throughout the year. Artists represented include American masters Don Reitz, Karen Karnes, and Warren MacKenzie; renowned mid-career artists Steven Heinemann of Canada; Anne Currier, chairman of Ceramics at Alfred University; Linda Swanson, a leading conceptual artist in clay; and SunKoo Yuh, the figurative and narrative sculptor from Korea. Innovators in the field of ceramics, Colby Parsons combines modern media technology with clay, while Nathan Prouty creates installations of plastic-encased sculptures that record his visual observations. In 2007, William Hull, founding director of the Palmer Museum of Art, chose Lacoste Gallery to represent his significant collection of Danish ceramics, including works from the foremost ceramic artists of Denmark Bodil Manz, Steen Ipsen, and Malene Mullertz. Lacoste Gallery has co-curated three exhibitions in conjunction with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston: Generational Crossroads, 2006, The Elusive Teabowl, 2011, and Contemporary Spins on Blue and White Ceramics, 2013. In 2007, we curated Fire and Ash for the Fuller Craft Museum. In 2015, we will present a museum-level exhibition, the Don Reitz retrospective: "Still Alive, Love You-Don" during NCECA, the National Clay Conference.
